- [Istanbul: Informant Sequence]A female Russian operative is introduced on screen wearing a hijab, only to remove it seconds later to "reveal" her true identity as an attractive Westernized agent. The garment serves absolutely no tactical purpose in the narrative and is never worn by her again. This gratuitous use appropriates a sacred Muslim religious obligation, reducing the hijab to a cheap exotic prop designed purely to maximize the cinematic impact of a beautiful woman revealing herself to the audience.

- [The Lawless Playground]When rogue CIA decoder Charlie Heller (Rami Malek) hits Istanbul, a CIA superior leaks his location to the Russian FSB. Instead of coordinating with local authorities, a Russian hit squad launches an immediate, armed operation on Turkish soil. The movie treats Istanbul as a completely lawless, disorganized playground where foreign intelligence agencies engage in public shootouts and assassinations without any intervention or friction from local law enforcement, entirely stripping away Turkey's national sovereignty.
