- Omar Khalifa recruits the American novelist Joan Wilder to write his biography and presents himself as an enlightened ruler while governing as a dictator. At a ceremony in the city of Kadir he uses staged special effects to have himself proclaimed leader of the Arab world, until the holy man Al-Julhara walks through the fire unharmed.
