- Chapter after chapter the menace is Queen Vultura and her robed Arab followers, an anonymous blade-carrying horde whose functions are to seize the white heroine, guard looted treasure, and be cut down in the serial's battles. Vultura herself, a scheming desert queen who keeps a gorilla named Satan, exists solely to imperil Nyoka and finally dies by her own creature's thrown spear.
