- Princess Tarji of oil-rich, fictional "Bukistan" is the fantasy Eastern bride: adoring, docile, and raised solely to please a husband, which is exactly why the American hero picks her. Her homeland is defined by an oil deal with the United States and by a stern father who commands her marriage, and her arc consists of an American woman teaching her Western emancipation.
