- Raoul Le Breton, raised as the son of an Arab sheik, is rejected by Barbara Barbier once she takes him for a native. He raids the desert, takes her and her father captive, and she is put up for sale as a slave; French troops free the captives, and Barbara accepts him only after he is revealed to have been born to white parents.
