- Egypt is the standing enemy: the Pharaoh schemes with the Queen of Sheba to corrupt Solomon and later arms Adonijah to conquer Israel as Egypt's viceroy. Sheba herself is the pagan temptress, dispatched to seduce the king and presiding over an orgiastic 'love festival,' redeemed only when she converts to Israel's God.
