Anti-Black caricature
Physical exaggeration inherited from minstrelsy and colonial illustration: enlarged lips, flattened features, skin drawn several shades past anyone's, on characters positioned to be laughed at or towered over. The drawing conventions outlived the studios that invented them and travel a long way from where they started - they surface in animation made on the other side of the world, by people with no stake in the tradition they are copying.
