Baghdad's court is a nest of schemers: Grand Vizier Ghamal secretly rules the sultan and sickens the princess with a potion, while the suitor Prince Osman slits his rivals' waterbags in the desert and finally attacks the city, Ghamal switching sides to join him - treachery as the court's native language.
