- Modern-day Egyptians in this Luxor-set mummy tale are grave robbers and street menaces: diggers Ali and Fawzi pilfer treasure from the tomb and die for it, while in the souk the American heroine is chased, groped, and robbed by leering locals as veiled women in black silently shut a gate to trap her. The closing credits identify the film's Egyptian characters simply as "Thieves."
