- Jamil is the romantic desert Arab of the sheik-film mold, a Bedouin chieftain's son who woos the American missionary's daughter, while the surrounding Arabs split into noble tribesmen and a treacherous village ruler willing to hand orphan children to the Turks for slaughter to save himself.
