- The desert Bedouin are divided into traitors and props: a sheikh loyal to the SS betrays the escaped POWs, his tribesmen killing one and handing the rest over for torture, while a rival tribe appears only to deliver a warning. Arab allegiance exists solely in service to one European side or the other.
