- The Arab trader Abdi Hammud is the resident villain, ambushing British troops and dying in a botched shooting at the outpost while a Nazi agent arms the hostile tribe. Zia, daughter of the Arab trader Abu Kalli, is the outpost's exotic beauty, an alluring woman seated at a segregated table as a 'half-breed' until the plot aligns her with the British.
