- The Emir and his tribesmen are treacherous rebels who wipe out the Legion fort and execute its bound survivors, while his daughter Cara is the maiden who loves, shelters, and dies for the French captain, riding into his minefield during the final assault. Peace arrives when the surviving tribes pile their rifles at French feet.
