- In Beirut, Palestinian militants styling themselves "Guardians of the Oppressed" kidnap a Marine captain and later his twin brother, demanding the release of twenty-three jailed comrades; four Americans and a Lebanese cabbie answer by killing Palestinians by the dozen. When a Palestinian boy balks at executing the captain, his own comrades shoot him.
