- The fictional desert nation of Ishtar supplies dueling Arab menaces, a despotic Emir and leftist guerrillas, and the guerrillas knowingly send the American heroes into the desert to die; the other natives serve comedy, like the camel dealer Mohamad who sells the pair a blind camel.
