- Told wholly from the side of Israeli volunteers in 1948, the film keeps its Arab fighters faceless attackers with no case of their own; the one enemy soldier singled out, a captured officer in Egyptian ranks, is revealed to be a former Nazi, fusing the Arab war effort with Nazism.
