- American newsreel men covering an Arab revolt in French Algeria find a Legion garrison massacred, are captured by rebels in the souk, and end up machine-gunning fleeing tribesmen while French planes bomb the uprising, which proves to be engineered by a non-Arab schemer promising North Africa to a European power. The rebels tie a captured French officer to a wild horse to be dragged to death as onlookers cheer, and the comic sidekick derides Arab robes as nightshirts and bathrobes. Teeda, a heavyset and nearly mute Arab woman, giggles and chases that sidekick after he unwittingly lifts her veil, her father demanding the two marry.
