Charlie Chan in Egypt (1935)

Egypt furnishes the mystery's servant class and its curse-haunted atmosphere: the butler Edfu Ahmed warns that the household is doomed for having opened the tomb and later flees under suspicion, while the maid Nayda hovers wordlessly as a red herring. The superstition embodied by the native characters is dispelled by the visiting detective, who proves every death the work of modern science rather than any mummy's curse.
