- A Foreign-Legion formula in which desert Arabs exist as tribes to be pacified: the legionnaire hero is sent among them to extract a peace treaty, a powerful sheikh is the obstacle to be won over or outfought, and a European renegade stirring the tribesmen supplies the treachery. The Arabs themselves are the terrain of the adventure, not characters in it.
