- Sherazade is the dancing girl as trophy, desired by a usurping prince, sold into slavery, and bargained over by scheming men, while the villains are palace Arabs: Kamar seizes his brother's throne and the vizier Nadan blackmails, betrays, and murders his way through the plot. Idle harem women frame the whole tale as its readers.
