During Istanbul arena duels fought to the death, the camera returns more than two dozen times to a cluster of mute Arabs in white kuffiyehs and dark glasses who bet, drink, wring their hands, and applaud when blood flows or a head is severed — the only spectators marked by nationality; the hero also shows a date photographs of a mutilated Saudi prince.
